ASUS G701-VI vs G701-VIK inside

Since there are few things more cyber than the insides of cutting edge hardware. Here are two high resolution shots of the insides of the Asus G701-Vi and its 7th gen update, the G701-VIK.

The VIK solves the main issue that the G701 had namely heat dissipation. It does this by...being twice as thick. Which doesn't really show here on the pictures but trust me. The VIK is massive compared to the VI.

All that does however keep the 1080 inside at a steady 75 degrees under heavy load even when overclocked past 2Ghz.

The G701-VIK main board. Note the empty SODIMM slots since this is the 32GB config and both slot 1 and 2 are on the underside.
