Except iCloud Drive still sucks, since it insists on doing full synchronisation only instead of the more common selective sync of its peers.
But there is hope, some industrious hacker has put together a free Finder plugin called iCloud Control which lets you selectively remove folders from the download or download queue.
Although it was made for Sierra and El Capitan I’ve tested it on Mojave and it works a treat. Just don’t forget to reboot after going through the setup process… Your Uptime wasn’t that great anyway.
